While on vacation in Hawaii, I was able to see the Pearl Harbor Memorial, Mighty Mo and USS Bowfin. It leaves ya speechless. During this time of reflection, it finally dawned on me that both my grandpa's fought in this war. I took a picture of a map while on the U.S.S Missouri (also called the Mighty Mo where the peace treaty was signed) and Granny Vera pointed out the island of Guam where Grandpa R.T. fought. And right next to Guam is Iwo Jima where my Grandpa Levoy fought. Dad said that Grandpa Levoy always said that if he hadn't been put in a radio position that he didn't think he would have come home alive.
In my ignorance, I have taken my freedom for granted and never even thanked my Grandpas for their service.
